Body Control Pilates is a body conditioning method that works in a different way to other fitness techniques. Targeting the deep postural muscles, Pilates works by building strength from the inside out, rebalancing the body and bringing it into correct alignment. This improves posture, achieving a good balance between strength and flexibility, and is a great way to relieve unwanted stress and tension. Great for athletes looking to enhance perfomance but avoid risk of injury. 


Pilates is also perfect for the first time exerciser. Its slow, controlled approach means that it gives much longer-term results. Pilates teaches you to understand your body by unlearning bad postural habits that we unknowingly pick up over the years. It is especially recommended by medical specialists for those with chronic back pain, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, women's health probems and stress related illnesses.

Our private 1-2-1 Pilates classes are tailored especially to your needs with hands-on instruction from Hannah or Gary.  Our sessions and treatments include:

  • 1-2-1 Matwork Pilates instruction

  • 1-2-1 or 2-2-1 Pilates Reformer sessions in the Reformer apparatus room

  • Sports injury treatment by appointment - deep tissue massage, holistic massage, soft tissue release

  • Individual treatment of aches, sprains and everyday muscular tensions

About Us


Partners at the studio and in life, Hannah Nicol and Gary Newstead soon discovered that they were often treating the same clients and by combining their skills they would complement each other very well. Both will be based at the new studio and they are passionate about welcoming all ages and abilities to their range of classes, one-to-one sessions and treatments. 

Hannah Nicol

Hannah comes from a dance background having studied at Redroofs Theatre School in Berkshire and has both qualified and taught a variety of dance classes from ballet, salsa, jive and tap dancing to aerobics classes for many years. Qualifiying as a Body Control Pilates teacher in 2000 and consequently becoming a Member of the Register of Exercise Professionals, Hannah has been teaching daily Pilates classes from beginners to advanced at Sussex Barn, Burnham Market since 2002.

She has recently qualified as a Pilates Reformer Teacher.

Gary Newstead

Growing up locally in South Creake and a keen sports person, it was a personal football injury that led to Gary's interest in sports injury treatment and rehabilitation. In 2003 he qualified with The Football Association in the Treatment and Management of Injuries in Football. This was followed by diplomas in Anatomy and Physiology, Holistic massage, and further training in deep tissue massage and Soft Tissue Release. In 2018 Gary qualified as a Body Control Pilates Matwork teacher and hopes to introduce more men to the benefits of Pilates.
